Florida Theatre

The Florida Theatre opened in 1927 and was designed in the Mediterranean Revival style with accommodations for both live performances and motion pictures. Like so many theatres in the United States, The Florida experienced a slow decline during the 60's and 70's as families moved to the suburbs and television grew in popularity. In 1980 the theatre closed its doors. However, a group of dedicated aficionados worked to get the Florida listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 to protect it from demolition. A year later the doors opened again, primarily as a music venue. In 2020 upgrades to the theatre included replacing all but two of the chairs, which were restored and reinstalled for Jay, the Theatre's resident ghost.

The seating includes a custom replica back which is similar to Irwin's No. 81 Oriental. The main floor and mezzanine are installed with the No. 12 seat and the balcony has the No. 15 Crusader seats to provide extra space in the historical row spacing. The No. 146 Rialto cast aisle standards are hand-decorated in three colors and feature a recess for row letter plates. Aisle ends are also equipped with concealed LED lights. The seating is upholstered in J.B. Martin Porto velour and the wood is finished in a custom match. The new seating was also installed with rear mount wire cupholders.
