FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Smith Center 9 e5b264a9bfc8a845451eb1f9b29ea3fa

Q: What “Additional Content” is available for download?

A: Dimension drawings, specifications, cut sheets, and more. New content is developed and posted on an ongoing basis—so if you don't find what you're looking for, simply reach out and we'll try to get you what you need right away.

Q: Do I need to register to access/download “Additional Content" on your site?

A: You do. The materials we’ve developed represent proprietary work for Irwin. It’s content that was created to specifically help architects, designers, general contractors, and our field partners easily access current information on all of our products.

Q: Is Irwin’s registration process complicated?

A: Not at all. Once your completed online form is submitted, we’ll send a confirmation email with a link to validate your registration and set up a password. The entire process takes just a couple of minutes.

Q: What does Irwin do with my registration info?

A: We may follow up to make sure you found what you were looking for. And we may send occasional news about products or service improvements—but we will definitely NOT be filling up your inbox and we’ll NEVER give your information to a third party.

Purchasing Seating

Q: How do we buy seating from Irwin?

A: To ensure the best level of service, we offer our products through different channels—depending on your project's size, type, and location. To get the ball rolling, simply fill out the request form, or give us a call, and we’ll put you in touch with a member of our team.

Q: How much do your chairs cost?

A: Pricing for the typical auditorium-style chair can vary a lot, based on the model itself as well as accessories and finishes. Fabric selection makes a big difference too. If you need preliminary budget pricing, just reach out and one of our sales team members will quickly follow up with you.

Q: Do you rent seating or bleachers?

A: No. Our products are specially manufactured and installed for the spaces where they live.

Q: Can I order parts for my Irwin chairs or bleachers?

A: Sure! Parts are available for most Irwin products. And even if a product has been discontinued, we can usually replace it with a new model or help troubleshoot a low-cost alternative to get your seating back in working order.

Layout & Installation

Q: Can you install our seating for us?

A: Absolutely! Just give us a call and let Irwin arrange installation with one of our certified installation crews.

Q: Are chairs shipped complete?

A: Actually, our fixed seating is shipped as individual components and assembled on-site because chairs typically share pieces like center standards and armrests. Telescopic seating systems are also assembled on-site.

Q: Can I add cupholders or tablet arms to my current chairs?

A: No problem—as long as safety code compliance is maintained. That means you have to be able to maintain proper row spacing and clear passage for any added accessories. Just give us a call and we’ll have a representative follow up with you.

Q: Can you provide a seating layout/shop drawing?

A: Absolutely. We always draw up a seating layout to generate a bill of materials for our manufacturing team and installation crew to use on-site.

Q: Can I get a “CAD block,” Revit (RVT) File, or a 3D image of your chair?

A: You bet. Our seating layout engineers use a series of AutoCAD macros and a generic symbol when laying out a space—so we have CAD blocks for each model and size available. We can also provide you with a dimension drawing showing the critical measurements of any chair’s envelope. Our Design Engineering Department can even export 3D renderings for many of our models, and you’ll find Revit and AutoCAD files posted on this website that are available for download by registered users.

Finishes

Q: Can we use our fabric on your chairs?

A: Sure! We’re happy to use a Customer’s Own Material (COM) provided the fabric passes our testing for durability and workability. If your fabric doesn’t pass testing, we may suggest an alternative or require a waiver before manufacturing your chairs.

Q: Can you stain the wood on the chairs to match other woodwork in our theatre?

A: Definitely. We should be able to match any wood stain—simply contact an Irwin representative for details.

Q: Can you match seating plastic and paint colors to our team colors?

A: Of course! Irwin can customize plastic and powder coat finishes to match any school colors, corporate branding, or other existing materials in your space. Just call us for details.

Q: Are you LEED Certified?

A: While our products are not eligible for LEED status on their own, many Irwin products and processes can help contribute points toward your project’s LEED certification.

Q: Are you FSC certified?

A: We are not FSC certified, so we can’t supply a chain of custody certificate. But if you require FSC wood products for your project, we can indeed purchase them and ensure they’ll be used through our Customer’s Own Material (COM) process.
