On April 24, 2026, Irwin Seating Company was notified that Absecon Mills has ceased operations.

What this means for your project

Any project specifying Absecon fabrics that have not already been received into our warehouse will require selection of an alternate fabric pattern and color. While suitable replacements are available for some patterns, others will require closer review to identify the best possible alternative.

Recommended substitutions

The Sherpa and Shire patterns have a strong replacement option in the Tahoe Interweave collection. Interweave is manufactured in the USA using comparable polyolefin fibers and is offered at equivalent pricing to the former Absecon fabrics.

To support a smooth transition, we have identified the closest color matches between Sherpa and Shire and the Interweave collection for several commonly specified options. Keep in mind, colors may display differently from device to device and evaluating colors with a physical swatch is always recommended.
