The Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre was built in 1917 and was originally named the Plymouth Theatre. It was renamed in 2005 to honor the late chairman of the Shubert Organization. In 2015 Irwin Seating reseated the theatre with 1,057 model 22.12.146.8 Saturn chairs. The seating is finished with veiled brown plastic & powder coat, No. 24 walnut on maple stain, and a special beige base coat for cast end standards. The backs and seats are upholstered in a custom ArcCom fabric.
